Where to Eat in Genoa on a Tuesday, and What Changes for Candy Dance Weekend

The Pink House and Flutter & Buzz, two of Genoa's best-loved stops for a meal or a coffee, share the same weekly rhythm. Both rest on Tuesday and Wednesday, which shapes how a midweek plan around downtown comes together.

Genoa has a small set of places to eat, and knowing which ones rest on which days makes a midweek plan easy. Candy Dance weekend, coming up this Saturday and Sunday, changes the pace for the whole town.

Tuesday and Wednesday Are Rest Days for Two Favorites

The Pink House posts its hours plainly: open Monday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., closed Tuesday, closed Wednesday, back open Thursday through Sunday with Friday and Saturday running until 9 p.m. It's the 1855 Gothic Revival house on the National Register of Historic Places, the one with the wraparound porch, the live music most weekends, and a bar list built around more than 40 wines. Tuesday and Wednesday are its days off.

Flutter & Buzz opened on Main Street in 2022 and has become a go-to morning stop for espresso and acai bowls. Its posted schedule is Thursday through Monday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., so Tuesday and Wednesday are its rest days too.

Since both spots rest on the same days, a Tuesday or Wednesday plan starts with the other options in town.

Where to Go on Tuesday and Wednesday

The Genoa Bar & Saloon sits in a building that dates to 1853 and calls itself Nevada's oldest "thirst parlor." Its posted hours run Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., so its doors are open on Tuesday and Wednesday. One visitor account mentions a low doorknob at the entrance that you push rather than pull.

It is a historic saloon with a shaded patio and live music from local bands, and a good fit for a drink and a look at the memorabilia inside.

Where the Four-Stop Dinner Circuit Comes From

A good look at the local dinner lineup comes from Genoa Western Heritage Days in April 2026. The Friends of Genoa hosted a Progressive Dinner where ticket holders rotated through four stops in 30-minute increments for food and drink at each: Daniel's, Flutter & Buzz, Sierra Chef, and Foothill Market. Tickets were $40.

Daniel's is tucked behind the Genoa Town Hall and serves a French-leaning menu. Sierra Chef and Foothill Market round out that four-stop circuit, and the Genoa Bar & Saloon and Genoa Country Store add to the mix in a town with an estimated 1,298 residents as of 2026.

Just Outside Town

Just past the town center, David Walley's Hot Springs Resort is home to the 1862 Restaurant and Saloon, which serves a lodge-style dinner menu with views toward Job's Peak. It keeps its own schedule, so checking ahead is a good idea.

Here's the rough shape of a normal week downtown:

Spot Typical Weekly Pattern
The Pink House Closed Tue and Wed; open Mon, Thu-Sun
Flutter & Buzz Open Thu-Mon, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.; closed Tue and Wed
Genoa Bar & Saloon Open Mon-Thu, 10 a.m.-10 p.m.; later on Fri
Daniel's Stop on the April 2026 Progressive Dinner
Sierra Chef / Foothill Market Stops on the April 2026 Progressive Dinner

Candy Dance Weekend

The Genoa Candy Dance, now in its 107th year, runs September 26 and 27 this year, the last full weekend of the month. The Arts & Crafts Faire was added to the event in 1974. More than 400 vendors set up downtown, homemade candy gets passed around the way it has since 1919 when the event started as a fundraiser for the town's streetlights, and the crowd that moves through over the two days runs into the thousands, by some counts into the tens of thousands, funneled through a town whose year-round population barely clears 1,300.

Streets close to traffic from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days, and dogs aren't allowed at the faire itself. The Town of Genoa's Candy Dance page lists the public parking lots, which run $10, along with shuttle details for the weekend.
